The ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Festival returns to mumok for the 11th time since 2015.

In 2026, Europe’s largest festival for contemporary dance and performance will present eight artistic positions – on Level -2 in Tolia Astakhishvili’s exhibition Figure of the Child, in the white space at mumok kino, and in the mumok Hofstallung. 

This year’s programme focuses on prominent Viennese works, including four world premieres, and the [8:tension] Young Choreographers’ Series. World premieres await us from the Austrian dancer and choreographer Ian Kaler, set within a scenography by Stephanie Rauch and to music by rRoxymore; from Philipp Gehmacher in the architectural installation by the Georgian artist Tolia Astakhishvili; and from Liquid Loft, who are transforming their new work from a church space into the White Cube. Lisa Hinterreithner invites us to her premiere at the mumok Hofstallung for encounters with plants, earth and fellow creatures, whereas the Korean artist based in Vienna, Hyeijy Nam, is transposing her multidisciplinary work from the brut nordwest into the new space. 

[8:tension] Artist Samir Kennedy kicks things off with The Aching. Kennedy is based between London and Marseille and works at the intersections of choreography, performance, sound and video. In his solo piece, he explores the temporality of grief – the temporality of his own grief – through voice, gesture and music. Joce, visual artist, performer and dancer based in Geneva, brings soundscapes from urban environments to the museum. And in the Performance Situation Room, Ewa Dziernowska and Maud Blandel will be talking with curator Chris Standfest about their artistic urgencies.
