Joce / Persona Compendium
Freestyle is A Heart to Beat
Dance as a living, moving, constantly growing bodily archive, as an “echo of diasporas”. Joce lives and dances in Geneva, or the other way around: Geneva lives and dances in him, as he understands himself to be in “endless dialogue” with the streets he walks, the people he meets, the unique backdrop of sounds, wishes and memories from which a city constitutes itself. Of course, such a conversation, such an acute and permeable perception doesn’t break off at the city limit, but expands, welcomes new sensations from other cities and makes them dance. Same goes for Vienna: in free improvisation and accompanied only by the soundscape emerging from a boombox, the performer makes a specific lived experience vibrate that at the same time “testifies to a plethora of others.”
