mumok Opens the Artistic Process: Tolia Astakhishvili’s ‘Tolia Curriculum’

Tolia Astakhishvili. Curriculum

In the lead-up to her first solo museum presentation, Georgian artist Tolia Astakhishvili launches an ambitious new project at mumok: Tolia Curriculum. The format re-envisions the temporality of exhibition-making by inviting visitors to engage with the production and installation phases typically held out of view. The audience can thus encounter the work while it is still taking shape, marking a first in mumok’s history.
Set within an evolving architectural environment, Tolia Curriculum unfolds as a daily program of workshops, lectures, screenings, readings, and participatory formats for children and adults. To this end, Astakhishvili brings her close collaborators into the project, opening her practice of exchange to the public.

Contributors include following artists, researchers, writers, and architects: Tolia Astakhishvili, Jacksun Bein, Julia Boog-Kaminski, Veronica Brovall, Harun Farocki, Jonas Kuck, Simon Lässig, Natalia Medebach, Florian Meisenberg, Laurids Ortner, Dylan Peirce, Livia Polanyi, Vera Pulido & Roman Lemberg, James Richards, Liesl Ujvary, Kristian Vistrup Madsen, and others
