Roee Rosen makes appearances in varying guises and always provokes renewed speculation. Over the years he has worked on developing a figure, a feminist prototype going by the name of Justine Frank, using various means of expression – painting, literature, film. She appeared in the 1920s in Surrealist circles in Paris and, amongst other things, had an affair with George Bataille and wrote a pornographic novel with the title Sweet Sweat. While in Out (Tse) (2010) Rosen dealt with the political sayings of former Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in a sadomasochistic setting, in Hilarious (2010) he utilizes humour is such a dysfunctional way that it continually tips over into unease. In his most recent project he has been occupied by the fictitious Russian poet Efim Poplavsky (aka Maxim Komar-Myshkin) who emigrated to Israel where, amongst other things, he founded the Buried Alive Group, an artist association with members from the former Soviet Union.
Further works by Roee Rosen can be seen as part of the group show Ich bin eine andere Welt. Künstlerische Autor_innenschaft zwischen Desubjektivierung und Rekanonisierung (I am another world.
