Tolia Curriculum
Laurids Ortner, Herzkammer
Two decades after its completion, mumok’s architect Laurids Ortner returns to the building. On the occasion of the launch of Tolia Curriculum, set within a still-empty exhibition hall, he will explore the structures and processes that only become visible when the building is being transformed.
Laurids Ortner is an architect born in Linz. He studied at the Technical University of Vienna and co-founded the art and architecture collective Haus-Rucker-Co. He went on to hold a professorship at the University of Art and Design Linz before establishing the firm Ortner & Ortner with Manfred Ortner in Düsseldorf. Together they planned Vienna's MuseumsQuartier. Ortner later served as Professor of Architecture at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and founded the practice O&O Baukunst in Berlin.
The event will be conducted in German.
Tolia Curriculum is a project conceived by Georgian artist Tolia Astakhishvili, unfolding as a daily schedule of workshops, lectures, screenings, readings, and participatory formats for children and adults. In the lead-up to Figure of the Child, her largest exhibition to date, Astakhishvili opens her production and installation process to the public as she develops her work in situ.
