Tolia Curriculum for Children | Veronica Brovall, Octagon Cave

Tolia Curriculum for Children
Veronica Brovall, Octagon Cave
Sunday, May 31, 2026, 2 to 5 pm

Artist Veronica Brovall invites children and families to experiment with plaster molds. We will work with leaves, rope, insects, bark, feathers, and clay to create impressions and traces. The goal is not to produce finished forms but rather fragments that can stand on their own, be stacked, or combined. What remains may become part of the installation in progress or be returned to the clay.

In this workshop, Brovall works alongside her own daughters. Different generations move through the same material, and that too becomes part of the work.

The sculptor and installation artist Veronica Brovall (b. 1975, Falun, Sweden) lives and works in Berlin. Working primarily in ceramics, she creates anthropomorphic sculptures that oscillate between body, fragment, fragility, and strength. Her work is held in institutional collections such as Moderna Museet in Stockholm and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation in Los Angeles.

Veronica Brovall, Octagon Cave, is aimed at families with children aged 5 and up, as well as anyone who feels like family. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Bookings made without an accompanying adult will be automatically cancelled.

The meeting point is he mumok entrance area on Level 0. Please leave jackets, backpacks, and other belongings in the cloakroom and wear clothing that may get dirty.

The workshop will be conducted in German.

Tolia Curriculum is a project conceived by Georgian artist Tolia Astakhishvili, unfolding as a daily schedule of workshops, lectures, screenings, readings, and participatory formats for children and adults. In the lead-up to Figure of the Child, her largest exhibition to date, Astakhishvili opens her production and installation process to the public as she develops her work in situ.
