Tolia Curriculum for Children
Harun Farocki, Bedtime Stories
Sunday, May 24, 2026, 2 to 4 pm

Harun Farocki’s Bedtime Stories resist being told in full. The sentences get slower and slower, the images drift off into a haze. Taking these four short films as a starting point, we will develop poetic narratives. In the process, we’ll explore how small actions, objects, and images can be used as mediums for thought and imagination. Playing together becomes a tool for writing stories that waft between waking and dreaming.

Harun Farocki (1944–2014) was a German filmmaker, video artist, writer, and theorist who explored the conditions of seeing in more than 120 films. His Bedtime Stories (1976/77) were produced for Westdeutscher Rundfunk and are among his early works for television.

Harun Farocki, Einschlafgeschichten is aimed at families with children aged 5 and up, as well as anyone who feels like family. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Bookings made without an accompanying adult will be automatically cancelled. The meeting point is the mumok entrance area on Level 0. Please leave jackets, backpacks, and other belongings in the cloakroom and wear comfortable clothing.

The workshop will be conducted in German.
