Dance & Art – Moving Through the Museum
Dive into the vibrant world of House Dance – born in the club scenes of the 1980s in Chicago and New York, this style thrives on rhythm and freedom!
Dancer and choreographer Farah Deen introduces you to the basic steps of House Dance, brings along plenty of groove exercises, and explores freestyle concepts – always with a focus on your individual expression.
You’ll learn a variety of movement exercises, build confidence in and with your body, and discover the balance between collective energy and personal freedom.
A safe and welcoming space awaits you, where you can dance at your own pace and in your own style – inspired by the concept of cyphering:free dancing within a circle that offers room for self-expression, without pressure or judgment. And yes: Expect lots of laughter and good vibes!
Don’t miss the chance to dance with us as we open our exhibition spaces to contemporary dance!
In keeping with the 1980s theme, each session begins with a short introduction to selected artworks from the exhibition Never Final! The Evolving Museum.
Our collection activities from the 1980s offer insights into the social, cultural, and political life of that era.
