mumok Children's Activity Day
On March 1, 2026, mumok invites you to our Children’s Activity Day! And that means that on this day, kids are in charge throughout the entire museum!
There’s plenty of space for dancing and drawing at Disco Drawing, our silent disco. If you prefer to go on a tricky scavenger hunt, try our puzzle rally and explore the museum in German or English – with the chance to win a prize at the end. In our picture‑book cinema, you can immerse yourself in the oeuvre of Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, and Alexander Calder! In the Open Studio, you can get creative with lots of colorful paint, kinetic sand, and plenty of building blocks. And if you’d like to decorate your room, a large selection of our exhibition posters is waiting for you. For a cheerful good‑bye, our balloon artist will create the balloon of your dreams – whether it’s a dog, flower, parrot, lion, magic sword, or even an abstract artwork!

“Once upon a time…” – that’s how many exciting stories begin. Things get thrilling at mumok when we dive into the oeuvres of Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, and Alexander Calder in our picture‑book cinema! We’ve written our own stories about these three artists, which we bring to life together with you, your friends, and your family – through storytelling, artworks from our collection, the Japanese Kamishibai theater technique, and a touch of stage magic. We transform our painting wall into a cinema screen, and afterward, inspired by the artists’ past and techniques, you’ll create your own artwork using colors, shapes, and lots of colorful paper.
