mumok invites you to our Children’s Activity Day on March 1! On this special day, kids take the lead throughout the entire museum!

There's room to dance and draw at Disco Drawing, our silent disco. Those who prefer a tricky treasure hunt can explore the museum with our Puzzle Rally (in German and English!) and even win a prize at the end. In our Picture Book Cinema, you can immerse yourself in the works of Paul Klee, Henri Matisse and Alexander Calder! In the Open Studio, you can paint freely and creatively with lots of colourful paints, or build with kinetic sand and lots of building blocks. A large selection of our exhibition posters awaits you for decorating your children's room. And for a cheerful goodbye, our balloon artist will craft each child the balloon of their dreams, whether it's a dog, flower, parrot, lion, magic sword or abstract work of art!

Information:

Participation and admission are free for all children and young people up to the age of 19.
In addition, up to two adults per child also receive free admission.
An adult must accompany children under the age of 14.
No registration required.

Let your imagination run wild: plenty of exciting materials await. Activate your senses with kinetic sand and shape your own sculptures. Use our building blocks to create the city of your dreams. Let your fingers fly across the paper as you capture your impressions of the day with gouache sticks—and of course, you’re welcome to take your artwork home. Gentle background music sets the mood for your creative exploration.

Disco Drawing with Live Visuals

10 am–6 pm
For ages 4 and up / For the whole family
Location: mumok cinema, Level –4
Music in your ears, colourful pens in your hands, and a room full of paper: Let’s draw. The mumok Cinema transforms into a vibrant dance floor where walls and floors become giant canvases. Grab headphones, follow the beat, and let your pencil dance.
You and your family become part of a live, interactive artwork: every sound in the space is captured and translated into real-time visuals projected onto the walls.

Your cards through the museum

Would you like to explore the exhibitions and the museum on your own?
Just borrow our small card set at the ticket desk and dive into the colors and forms of mumok. Encounter our artworks in new ways and become a little poet, designer, and explorer.

Puzzle Rally

10 am–5.30 pm
For ages 6 and up / For the whole family
Location: mumok cinema / white room / Level -4
Available in German and English
Young detectives, take note: explore the exhibitions and the museum while solving a series of tricky riddles. If you crack the final code, a prize awaits—while supplies last.
The rally is designed for children, teens, and families, and is available in both German and English.

Painting with Light

10 am–6 pm
For ages 4 and up / For the whole family
Location: mumok cinema / black room / Level -4
Here you’ll experiment with light: With cozy music playing in the room and without speaking to each other, you’ll create a collaborative artwork together with your siblings, friends, mom or dad – or with the whole family – at our illuminated easels. Or grab one of our fluorescent light tablets and let your imagination run wild while relaxing in our comfy cinema chairs.

Your poster to take home

10 am–6 pm
For children ages 4 and up
Location: Foyer, Level 0
We have plenty of A1 posters for our young visitors: We have taken the funniest and most colourful posters from our past exhibitions out of the drawer for you and giraffe, bat, confetti party & Co: All these colourful motifs are waiting for you! Get your free poster to decorate your room with modern and contemporary art!

Balloon Artist

10 am–6 pm
For children ages 4 and up
Location: Foyer, Level 0
To round off the day, a balloon artist will create the balloon of your choice—a dog, flower, parrot, lion, magic sword, or even an abstract sculpture.
You decide what to take home as a joyful souvenir of your time at mumok.

mumok Open Playing Area

10 am–6 pm
For all ages.
Location: Inside the exhibition Never Final! The Evolving Museum.
In the exhibition’s project space, open stations invite visitors to experiment, sort, and build.
These activities are inspired by the museum’s collection and continue the open and dialogue-based format of Never Final! The Evolving Museum.
