At the Picture Book Cinema on the big screen, you will meet mumok’s new companion: the Mole. Together, you will explore the museum, experience art with all your senses, and learn how he found his way to mumok.
Inspired by artists from the mumok collection and the Japanese storytelling theater Kamishibai, our story comes to life on the movie screen. Afterwards, you will create your own artwork using colors, shapes, and plenty of colorful paper.

Shadow Theater with Sevda Chkoutova

Creative Stations

10 am to 6 pm
For everyone ages 3 and up / For the whole family
Location: mumok Atelier

Floating Color
Colors drift, flow, and transform into imaginative patterns. Using combs and sticks, we move colors across the surface of water and transfer the resulting swirls onto paper. Using a marbling technique, a one-of-a-kind artwork emerges from this sea of color.

Stencil Lab with Airbrush
How can you paint with air? At our open creative station, you can experiment with airbrush markers and self-designed stencils. Spraying, layering, and shifting create unique fields of color, soft transitions, and ever-changing forms. Every stencil becomes the starting point for a truly distinctive image.

Free Creative Painting
Our large-scale painting wall offers plenty of space for experimenting with acrylic paint. Discover what happens when you work with different materials and let your creativity run free.

Hands-On Activities

10 am to 6 pm
For families with children ages 3 and up / For the whole family
Location: Level -2 / Exhibition Tolia Astakhishvili, Figure of the Child

Touch Station
Feel, explore, create. Your hands take the lead here: discover hidden materials and a sculpture through touch. Inspired by your impressions, you will then create your own artworks using clay, modeling dough, or paper.

Creating Animal Collages
Using paint, fabric, and a variety of materials, you will create exciting surface textures. Through cutting and collage-making, these patterns are transformed into imaginative animals that you can take home with you.

Creative Painting Wall
Large sheets of paper on walls and floors await, along with plenty of flowing paint for painting and drawing. Small and large paper formats provide space for sketches, thoughts, and notes.

Museum Puzzle Rallye

10 am to 5 pm
For everyone ages 6 and up / For the whole family
Location: Distribution Desk, Level -4
Put your problem-solving skills to the test among the artworks. Would you like to embark on an exciting museum adventure? Together, you will discover artworks, solve tricky puzzles, and collect letters to reveal a secret solution word. Look closely, help one another, and follow the clues throughout the museum. Anyone who uncovers the correct solution word at the end will receive a small surprise (while supplies last)!

Balloon Artist

10 am to 6 pm
For children ages 4 and up
Location: Level -1

Before you leave, a balloon artist will create the balloon sculpture of your dreams: whether it is a dog, flower, parrot, lion, magic sword, or abstract work of art. You decide what special keepsake you would like to take home as a reminder of an unforgettable day at the museum!
