Children's Activity Day
mumok invites you to our Children’s Activity Day on September 6! On this special day, kids take the lead throughout the entire museum!
There's room to dance and draw at Disco Drawing, our silent disco. For those who prefer a tricky treasure hunt, the Puzzle Rally offers an exciting way to explore the museum (available in both German and English!)—and a prize awaits at the end!
Our picture book cinemaOnce Upon a Time... tells the story of Paul Klee, and together we'll turn what we’ve discovered into a unique work of art. In the Art Lab, we’ll paint and experiment with light. In the Open Studio, you’re free to create with vibrant colors, kinetic sand, and an abundance of building blocks. blocks. A large selection of our exhibition posters awaits you for the design of your child's room. And to top it all off, our balloon artist will craft the balloon of your dreams—whether it's a dog, flower, parrot, lion, magic sword, or abstract masterpiece—for a joyful goodbye!

Let your imagination run wild: plenty of exciting materials await. Activate your senses with kinetic sand and shape your own sculptures. Use our building blocks to create the city of your dreams. Let your fingers fly across the paper as you capture your impressions of the day with gouache sticks—and of course, you’re welcome to take your artwork home. Gentle background music sets the mood for your creative exploration.

“Once upon a time…” That’s how many stories begin. At mumok, we dive into the world of Paul Klee and explore his imaginative universe alongside works from the collection.
With engaging storytelling, the Japanese kamishibai theatre format, and a flair for the dramatic, the gallery wall becomes a cinema screen for interactive discovery. After seeing original works in Never Final! The Evolving Museum, you’ll be invited to create your own artwork—combining colours, shapes, and words into a personal visual story.

Music in your ears, colourful pens in your hands, and a room full of paper: Let’s draw. The mumok Cinema transforms into a vibrant dance floor where walls and floors become giant canvases. Grab headphones, follow the beat, and let your pencil dance.
You and your family become part of a live, interactive artwork: every sound in the space is captured and translated into real-time visuals projected onto the walls.

Young detectives, take note: explore the exhibitions and the museum while solving a series of tricky riddles. If you crack the final code, a prize awaits—while supplies last.
The rally is designed for children, teens, and families, and is available in both German and English.

Experiment with light in a calm, music-filled space. Without words—using only gestures, glances, and cooperation—you and your family will create collaborative works at our glowing easels.
Or pick up one of our fluorescent light tablets and settle onto a creative carpet to build illuminated sculptures or bring glowing shapes to life.

We have plenty of A1 posters for our young visitors: We have taken the funniest and most colourful posters from our past exhibitions out of the drawer for you and giraffe, bat, confetti party & co. - all these colourful motifs are waiting for you! - Get your free poster to decorate your room with modern and contemporary art!

To round off the day, a balloon artist will create the balloon of your choice—a dog, flower, parrot, lion, magic sword, or even an abstract sculpture.
