Here's what you can expect:
Exhibition Never Final! The Evolving Museum
Through selected artworks, you will learn exciting aspects of the history of the mumok collection since the 1980s.
The exhibition is dedicated to the transformation of the mumok during Dieter Ronte's directorship (1979 to 1989). Exemplary insights into the heterogeneity of the collection expansions are juxtaposed with the cultural-political parameters and programmatic decisions of this decade. It was during this period in particular that the foundations were laid for collaborations with collectors, that the museum was active in socio-political matters and that strategic acquisitions were made in preparation for the collection focuses of the following decades. “Never final”—this formula coined by Hertha Firnberg still defines mumok today as a dynamic place of change. This idea is brought to life in the exhibition through an open format with interactive furniture and dialog spaces that stage the museum as a platform for collective research, learning and questioning. The museum becomes a place where art is not only communicated, but also explored and questioned together.
Participation in the tour is free, a valid admission ticket to the museum or annual pass is required. Reserve your spot now!
Meeting Point: Museum Foyer
Please note: The tour will be held in Austrian Sign Language and will be interpreted into spoken German.
