Data Protection

Personal data are only collected, processed, and used by mumok in accordance with the provisions of the Austrian Data Protection Act. The following information explains which data are collected when you visit our website and how they are used.

1. Personal Data

Data entered into online forms, such as our donation form, annual ticket form, and Friends of mumok form, are stored. In addition to the visible fields in the forms, such as your first name and surname, and others, the time at which the data is stored and the language in which it is stored is also recorded. We also register whether the form was sent by a registered or an anonymous user. In the case of registered users, user IDs are saved.

2. The Use of Cookies

On this website mumok uses cookies to optimize our service.

a. What are cookies?

Cookies are small files with configuration settings that help mumok to ascertain frequency of use and the kind of use of the website. Cookies also make some user functions possible. The main aim of cookies is to recognize the visitors to the website and to make it possible to give each visitor a more individual and personalized site in accordance with their needs.

Cookies may contain the following files:
• the name of the server that wrote the data package
• a one-off ID number
• sometimes a final date

b. The following cookies are saved after active use of the site has terminated:

• session cookies:
These are time-restricted cookies that are deleted when the web browser is closed down.
o adaptive  image: saves the current dissolution so as to ensure appropriate image sizes
o has_js: saves information on whether the user’s browser has JavaScript so as to provide specific functions or display formats
o cookie_agreed: checks if the user has accepted the cookie popup to decide whether to show the notice again or not.

• Web analysis cookies:
The website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies,” text files that are saved on your computer and that allow an analysis of how you use the website. The information that cookies collect about your use of the website is usually sent to a Google server in the USA and saved there. The mumok website uses IP anonymization, meaning that within member states of the European Union and in other contracting states to the European Economic Area your IP address is abbreviated by Google. Only in exceptional cases are full IP addresses sent to the Google server in the USA and then abbreviated there. On behalf of the website operator Google uses this information to analyze your use of the website and to prepare reports about website activities and to provide further services associated with website and Internet use to the website operator. Google does not link the IP address that your browser sends to Google Analytics with any other data. You can prevent the saving of cookies by using a browser software setting, but this means that you may not be able to completely use all the functions of the website. You can also prevent the generation of data by cookies referring to your use of the website, including your anonymized IP address being sent to Google and further disseminated by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available here: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Google Analytics uses the following cookies: _ga (saved for 2 years), _gat (saved for 10 minutes), _gid (saved for 24 hours)

By using this website you agree to the use of cookies to read, process, transfer, and save information.
By using this website you declare that you agree to data concerning your use being used as described above and for the purposes described above by web analytics services.

c. Activating and Deactivating Cookies:

Most browsers accept cookies automatically. Cookies can be administered and deleted in your browser settings. When a setting prevents cookies from being saved then in some cases it will not be possible to completely use all the functions of the website.

d. Third Party Cookies

This website also integrates content from third parties. These third parties may also deploy cookies during your visit to our website, for example providing them with information that you have visited one of our websites. For further information on third-party use of cookies, please visit the website of the third party.

e. jStorage:

Information is saved identifying when a user has seen a popup overlay and which contents he or she has seen. Via the splashify module an overlay popup can be activated, offering various configurations.

3. Social Plugins

This website uses social media plugins like facebook.com, twitter.com, Instagram.com, and youtube.com. These can be identified by means of the relevant logos.
When you visit a website containing one of these logos, the browser automatically contacts the social media service server. This receives various data including which website the user is currently visiting. The operator of the website has no influence on which data are sent to the other platform. This data transfer takes place independently of whether the user clicks on the plugin.
If the user is logged into Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube.com at the same time as our website, the plugin may set up a concrete connection with the account of the user. If the user writes a comment on the website or likes it via the plugin, then the plugin sends information to Facebook  and links this with the user’s account. To prevent this, the user must logout from the social media account.
In addition to this information, we recommend that users also take note of data protection codes at Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. There is also the option of installing an add-on that blocks the social media plugin and prevents the data transfer.

Data Security

The security of your data is very important to us. We expressly aim to undertake all necessary technical and organizational measures to guarantee data security and to use your personal data only in such ways that they are protected from access by unauthorized third parties. Through the use of state-of-the-art security software and coding and encryption procedures our IT infrastructure meets the highest international security standards.

Your Rights

You have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction, data transferability, cancelation, and appeal. Should you have reason to believe that the use of your data contravenes data protection law or your data protection rights are in any way violated, then you may submit a complaint to the data protection authorities. In Austria this is the Data Protection Authority (www.dsb.gv.at).
